Vaccuming (Sand) Underneath Decor Etc

How often should I remove my (currently fake) log, plants etc to be able to access 100% of the surface? Every weekly vacuum? Once a month, or more, or less? I notice that some of my detritus is under there where I can't access it without picking it up, which simultaneously probably stresses the heck out of my cory cats.

I guess it depends on the size of your tank and how fully stocked it is. I have a large stocked tank so I remove everything every week when I water change and gravel vac as my nitrates tend to be around the 30-40 mark so I like to keep things as clean as possible. The fish get used to it if its done on a weekely basis.

I guess it depends on the size of your tank and how fully stocked it is. I have a large stocked tank so I remove everything every week when I water change and gravel vac as my nitrates tend to be around the 30-40 mark so I like to keep things as clean as possible. The fish get used to it if its done on a weekely basis.

Nice question, was going to ask it myself too.
I also remove everything once a week for gravel vac for same reasons as above (nitrate) and im a little overstocked at the mo.

It's rather annouying to do it though as i end up with water EVERYWHERE as the tank has alot of slate covering most of the gravel

I do it once every 2 weeks because everytime I have the pipe in the tank my sajica attacks it. Everytime I vacuum its cave, it gets very upset. My sajica had paired up but they quarrel when I vacuum their cave to a point where they separate for a week or so before making up.

My nitrate is actually lower before water change because I have lots of plants. My tap water nitrate is 20ppm.
