I'm doing a project for Environmental Science dealing with water conversation. I thought that using waste water from an aquarium to water a garden would be a good idea to conserve drinkable water. Also, the water from the tank has added nutrients and bacteria which would be more beneficial to the plants.

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, but if someone is new to the hobby this could definitely be an added bonus if they have a garden.

Has anyone here tried this or is now thinking about trying it?

Trust me its a great idea :)
I water a small portion of my 30 acre garden with my leftover wastewater, I have an aquaponics system which you may be interested in that feeds off of fish feces.

Yes, "old" water from an aquarium is ideal for watering house plants and gardens. I have 8 tanks and can't use all of the old water in the winter, but in summer I have been able to water my entire garden, front and back, once with just tank water siphoned out during the weekly water change.

I've always used my old tank water on my houseplants and garden. I can't say I've noticed many benefits to the plants, but I'm not good a good gardener. It certainly hasn't done any harm!
