i have a coldwater tank with a few goldfish in - im convinced its overstocked(beside the point atm!).... soooo can they be moved (like now), into my new tank?? i know the new one is cycling... but can the goldies live with tropicals??

also the coldwater tank is cycling and the nirite is really high and everything i do wont bring it back down??!!!

should i move them and would it be easier in a bigger tank??? (3 goldfish!)

im bothered they are going to die - they seem rally healthy but the water is most certainly not!!!!!!

help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know if this thread was before your other one, but yes you always need to do another water change if the ammonia or nitrite does not go below 0.25ppm. (We're assuming your tap water does not have ammonia in it so let us know if that is not the case.) You need to wait one hour minimum between water changes and since the last one seemed to have little effect, you should increase the percentage to 60 or 70 percent the next time.

~~waterdrop~~

You are looking to move them to an un-cycled tank due to being over stocked? At a minimum I would wait until it is cycled. And then get the tropicals out.

phew!

yes i am daily - normally twice daily - -never any less than once a day!

im using the liqid test now i bought some :) - and alos bacterlife stuff et.c... nothing seems to bring it down!! feel like im loosing!

thanks for the link!!!

im thinking of now giving them to someone with a pond.... even though im attatched to them.... its probably for the best??

i know about being attatched but i'm just really lucky grandad has a huge established pond and i'll know he'll look after them

I think there best bet would be to go in a pond but if you are going to do it do it sooner rather than l;ater so they will winter over successfully ---- too late in the season will be to cold to start then off in and you'd have to wait til spring (my opinion only as have done this before i had my first son and didnt have the time or the space to keep fish )

thanks

i could keep them in my new tank -to cycle it - even just over winter while they get a little bigger.... as this bigger tank would be a lot better for them

i think i am going to bag them up and let them float for an hour and then see how they do

that cant be any worst atmseeing how my tank readings are so bad - i know its because they amount of fish in such a 'small' tank!
