Urgent Please Read! Temperary Home For Fish.

Due to a problem with my new tank I have to find a temparary tank for my fish but the only thing I have is a 90l storage box and a 30l storage box.

I have 16 fish altogether most are small, neons platys german rams, but I have an 8" common plec.

My idea was to put some of the small fish in the 30l box and the larger in he 90l. I have two heates so i can heat both boxes the only problem is i only have one cycled filter the other is practically brand new.

Stick with me here as I get complicated.

If I put the the cycled filter in the 90l tub, drill a hole and add a piece of pipe that runs into the 30l and then place the new filter in the 30l and attach sum hose To he outlet of the filter and run that back into the 90l, would this work in keeping the water problem free?

for the small fish would be fine in the 90L for a bit but the common plec needs a much larger tank

I no it's only for a week or so. Would he be ok ? He's only in a 125l tank as it is.

I'd just split the media from your matured filter and put some in each; you can cut sponges up with no problems; much easier than trying to drill holes or things like that.

Long term, you really will have to think about re-homing that plec...

Well I have a 240l ready to set up but no filter no substrate no nothing untill pay day which is a week away

But you do have one cycled filter? I was just saying it would be much easier to take some media from that and put some of it in your 'practically new' filter and having one filter in each storage box

Although, tbh, it would be much, much better to put all the fish, plus the cycled filter into the 240l one. Even if you don't have substrate, the fish won't mind that much.
