Uploading Pictures Auto Resizing

Hi All
 
Just a suggestion to make it easier to upload pictures could a mod be designed to make use of phps gd library to rescale the pictures on the fly to 100K saving the forum users performing it.
 
I know some shopping carts do this to thumbnail pics.
