okay i am upgrading my tank from 80L to a 330L tank

i have been instructed by you guys on the forum to put the old media form my filter into the new filter of the new tank, in order to give it a kick start and run the new tank strait away,

TBH i am abit hesitant in doing this as i screwed up my first cycle of this tank, was a newbie to impatient and rushed don't want to do that again,

but i was thinking i already have the new filter ready to go, just goat w8 for the new tank wich is going to take another 2 to 3 weeks would it hurt or be a gd idea to run the new filter side by side in the old tank i have now for the weeks until i get the new tank, and when i get my new tank i can either just go strait of the new filter or i can still put the old filter into it to make sure?

is this a gd bad idea? the filter i have is the tetra tec 1200 and i can adjust the flo rate so not to over fitter or have to much flow into the old tank

thank ziko

your filter media should be able to support the fish once its cycled so if your moving all the fish into the 330L tank then you should move the media across to as it can support the fish

there would be no need to cycle the 330l tank if your putting the same fish in and the same filter media just make sure the waters dechlo

Not point running side by side will take 2 months approx for filter to be ready and a waste of power running 2. Just put all of the media from old filter into new filter, run new filter in old tank that will increase the bacteria coloney. Set new tank up when it arrives fill it up treat the water give it a day or 2 to settle and come up to temp then pop everything from old tank into new no dramas :good:
