i have put this in the journal i made while deciding on what to keep and thought i would just post a few updated pics of the fish for you all to see how they are coming on and more importantly getting on..... you can see how much some of these fish have grown by comparing them to Keith who is about 12 inches or so. the nic especially has grown since adding him/her in here. the tank is still very peacefull and all are still getting along just fine. i couldnt get pics of the BGK who is about 7-8 inches now or the jag cat or L190 im affraid

THat's a monster of a port acara, or diadema, or whatever it is !

Nice fish !
ive had it ID as an aquedens diadema by a specialist on another forum. its currently about 8-9 inches..... the pics dont really do it justice, its a stunning fish when its in the right light and of course mood

What lovely healthy looking fish, STUNNING!!!!! :good:

Keith.

that looks bleeding brilliant pal!!

Makes me want a big cichlid tank

the colours in the sevs face are amazing almost marine fish like

what size tank is it? Mine in the garage is only just starting to heat up again hows the temp in yours?

that would look spot on with blue paint on the back like mine

cheers Simon :good:

the tank is 6.5x2x2 and it hasnt really dropped below 25-26 degrees all winter although i do have 4x300w heaters in there at the minute

the rotkeil is one of my nicest fish. the pattern doesnt normally come out that well so itried with the flash on, he didnt like it but i got the pic i was after!

ive not painted the back or added a background as the tank is to be taken out in the summer as the garage is to become part of the house so the fish need to be rehomed while the building work is going on. god knows what ill do with them all    then im getting a new tank/stand etc so ill have to make it look better as it will be on full view when the work is all finished :hey:

If I have space when the work is about to start some can lodge with me if you like if its any help :good:

i was thinking of asking you star but didnt know if you had the room and i didnt want to be cheeky.... although who knows come july what you will have set up

thats a very kind offer and i will probably take you up on it. the work starts on monday 18th of july so it will have to be a few days before then to give me time to get the tank out etc etc. maybe the weekend before would be easiest  ill have to chat with you nearer the time to see what you can take on.

your an angel :thanks:

Beautiful Diadema. I'd guess it is the Brasilian variant or Venezuela. I have 3 of a Peruan variant called sp Janero Herrera.

Some pics of how they will look as adult
Brasilan, just like yours:

The variant I have just bought 3 of (wildcaught)

It's tanks like this that make me want a large cichlid tank so much :p

Beautiful tank, and the fish are absolutely spectacular! :good: Would love to see more pics :D

i didnt know there were variants of diadema.... i struggled to find any info on them at all to be honest! i have no idea where mine is from but had it identified by a well know aequidens expert Alf Stalsberg as i was in doubt that it was a diadema or metae http://www.lem.net/alf/css-aequidens.htm
