I think he's doing a little better. I changed his tank yesterday afternoon and I added BettaFix to the water. I added the same dosage today since that's what the instructions said. I don't know if it's helping him yet, it's too soon to tell. He seems to be more active and what not. Hopefully I didn't jinx myself by making a post. How long does it take for a fish to recover from fin rot? When should I expect an improvement?

Sorry i didn't read the pre-quel to this post, how long has mr.brightside had fin rot for? If i'm not mistaken, fin rot is due to bacterial grwoth that eats away the tail, so keeping the water very clean all the time will definitely help.

You should keep in mind that his fins may never heal back 100% :( As for how long it'll take before you see improvement...i think it's hard to say, maybe a week and see if got any worse? if it didn't get worse you're probably okay.

Btw, may i suggest a better medication than BettaFix. It's called MelaFix and works very well with fin rot, I strongly suggest it over bettafix (which is believe is a more diluted version of melafix)

Anyways good luck with mr.brightside :D i'm sure he'll recover quickly under your care.
