Walking through the halls of my university with bags full of bettas. ..The bus stop is right in the middle of campus, and I figure the temperatures inside are better than out. So I take the fish out of the shopping bag [to avoid swinging it] and carry them where everyone can see.
Even better -- when I set up my friend Paul's 5 gallon, I had to walk across campus from my house with a bucket full of gravel with enough water to cover it [to keep the bacteria alive], bags of filter, plants, and more water conditioner, some seeded filter media from my tank [traded him one new carbon insert and one sponge for one seeded carbon insert and sponge as we have the same filter and it has two of each cartridges], bag with 2 platies, and a bag with 2 ghost shrimp in it to help keep his tank going. He gets all my baby guppies, so after he'd cycled the tank with an old filter of mine I added my old gravel and such. It used to just be a bare bottom, but he gave me some money to go out and buy stuff to make it pretty.
I guess the best part was walking past the lineup into the cafeteria.. ghost shrimp and platies tucked into my tank top between.. ahem.. obvious areas lol, a giant bucket full of lime green gravel in one hand, and a bag with plants and a filter in it in the other. Since it's university most of the kids just have a betta in a bowl. Paul, myself, and someone in the same res as me are the only ones with fish tanks. However, the other guy has a 40g setup that I am totally jealous of.
