i have owned a fish tank for about 4 years now and never really had much trouble with my tropical fish.

i recently went away with scouts for 5 days and left my fish in the capable hands of my mum dad and sister. all was ok with them at half past 6 last night but when my dad checked on them at 10pm 9 of them had past away. my sister later came home and watched them for about 2 hours. in the two hours for more fish died. she noticed that about half hour before they died their eyes became ver milky which resulted in them repeatdly swimming quite quickly into the side of the tank. they then were gasping for air, on the bottom of the tank. my sister saw this happen to 4 very different fish in 2 hours, as i have said before.

in order to try and save my last 4 fish i have put on my oxygen pump.

any help please guys?

Did anyone add anything to the tank?
Is your temperature monitored constantly?
How often have you done water changes?
Is your filter running effciently?

Do you have water parameters avaliable to post?

Sorry to hear of the loss of your fish. :rip:

At the simplest level i would consider over feeding to be a possibility, the fact they died while you were away suggest a simple change in tank maintenance.
Did your family perform any water changes while you were away or do anything involving the tank that differs remotely to your normal method.

Cloudy eye normally goes hand in hand with poor water conditions, hence over feeding being at the top of my list of potential contibuting factors.....
Hanging at the surface tends to suggest hypoxia (oxygen lack) or some form of poisoning, poisoning being a potential side effect of over feeding.

If you don't have a tester i'd keep up regular water changes, take them slow though, you don't want to stress your fish even more. As well as helping to removing toxins that are present, as well as diluting those not removed this will help keep your water oxygenated.
Any other symptoms?

Sorry for your losses.
