Unipac Zambezi Sand

Hi all, this week im beginning to start my new 4foot tank and im after a bit of inspiration on what substrate to go for. Ive been looking on THE GREEN MACHINE website and really like the look of the zambezi sand they sell. has any one used this sand and have you got any pictures. Reason is i dont want a really light colourd sand like the play sand people use.

i did have this but its not sand its more like a sand and fine grit mix. i have a lot of bottom feeders and the grit annoyed the corys and loaches causing them to flick like they had a parasite, so i removed it and all was well. so i wouldnt recommend it for these type of fish.

possibly yes, i wouldnt risk it mate. i switched to sand after having it about a month and thinking my tank was full of parasites i couldnt shift. immediately after the sand was in all fish were fine......

Have a look in your garden centre i got some sand from there and its a brown colour more than creamy and looks alot better IMO

I wouldnt if you have bottom dwellers. I wouldnt risk it with any fish encase they flick against it.

you can get different coloured sand but if its sold as aquatic sand its costly, thats why people use play sand as its just a few quid for a 20kg bag.

yeah i took the play sand out as it was just too light it didnt fit in with the darkness of the bog wood
