I made these squares of 1/2" pvc to keep some Giant Duckweed coraled that hasn't arrived yet and it appears they've also created a no current space on the surface where the food is staying longer. Fish seem to be enjoying the addition. I had to add a piece of airline with a stone to the tubs to keep them on the side I want them. The size was precut for 20 gallon highs.

Hey now ! I like that idea .
There may have been a dozen other ways to accomplish that but I've got a hardware store right beside me and I used to be a well driller working with pipe all the time anyway. I know it's safe, cheap, sturdy and should last years with no fiddling needed. I actually made a floating dock using 6 1/4" schedule 40 PVC when I was living out at the lake. I just capped both ends and slide sticks under a standard dock frame until it floated the desired amount. This same design should work for a simple floating deck for turtles, frogs and etc....'s

I want the baby guppies to have every conceivable choice for where to go hang out and not get eaten. So far, green plastic mats of grass like stuff on the bottom. Hornwort masses I assume will keep filling the spaces. Cut up pieces of pipe on the bottom to form little caves and getaways. Potted mini tubs starting to sit along the bottom and added rooted plants to. Snail cleanup crew reproducing rapidly. I want the floating squares of duckweed overtop the plastic grass mats which are getting bits of java moss added to the rocks weighting them down so the rocks should disappear gradually.

The entire setup is really cheap and easily duplicatable. I should be able to harvest the parts from the current one's plants to stock the future ones and eventually sell some plants as they overgrow. I want the main work to be once a week water change and harvesting a steady supply of store grown guppies for the store. I may do some picking the best of the babies stuff down the road for generation two stuff later but the starters should be good for 4 to 6 batches or more.
