Unexplained Fish Deaths

Hi everyone,

Friday morning my albino cory died and then this morning my female sunset platy died. I had them both for about 4 months or so.

My tank stats are all normal (am:0, nitrIte: 0, nitrAte:5ish).

The only thing that has changed this week is that i tried to feed them a slice of cucumber and added a few new fishies. Could this have caused their death?

Tanks size: 45US Gallons

Any ideas what could have caused this?

Were they showing any symptoms of disease before death? Were the new fish you got healthy?

Next time you get new fish, make sure you quarantine them for a week or so to make sure they don't bring any diseases into your main tank.

All the fish look and seem very healthy. i examined them before i bought them, but then again i guess you never can really know. I'll have to look into getting a quarantine tank soon.

The two fish that died seemed perfectly healthy, they were eating and swimming with the other fish. I'll just keep an eye on the remaining fish to make sure they dont show signs of disease. thanks for your help!

Next time you get new fish, make sure you quarantine them for a week or so to make sure they don't bring any diseases into your main tank.

Some diseases can take a full 4 weeks to present. It's quarantine for 4 weeks or not at all.
