Hi mark i'm pretty sure i have the same tank (rio 240?) and i'm also running a Tetratec EX1200 on it with great results,
The standard juwel internal is fine for smaller fish or low stocked tanks but if your keeping specialist fish or medium sized or messy fish then you'll find you may need to upgrade.

yes thats the tank i am looking at and i will be backing up the internal filter with e ex1200, how does the tank look when set up, is it good??

Yeah, i think so but see for yourself,
(I've recently ripped out the internal filter which I wasn't to keen on)
