Hey everyone, my first time on this site. I just had a little question for you all. I am not an experienced builder, nor that creative but i have constructed my own fish tankstand to carry my 130 gallon tank. Now its a little late its already on there, but i want to kno if you think i built it strong enough or what. Below is a picture:

Its got Cedar 4x4 post(6 of em) two on the ends and 2 in the middle. Followed by a 2x4 box along both top and bottom. THen renfoced in 8 spots from front to back, and added another 4 2x4 posts straight up and down too. I put a 3/4 inch peice of board on the sides and back of the tank, with a 3/8 inch ply wood on top. I amd in hte middle of making cabinet doors onthe front right now and trying to figure a cheap nice way to fix it. It is also bolted to the ground in my living room with some long #17##### screws in about 8 places. What u guys think? did i do good or should i renforce before the unspeackable can occer?????

My pic wont load, sorry. if u can picture it let me kno.

4- 4x4 posts 4-2x4 posts Lofs of cross support.

From what you have described it sounds plenty, the 6 4x4 posts will carry the weight, as long as they are securely fixed together with the 3/4 board at the back you'll have no problems... presuming the 3/8 ply doesn't overhang the structure.

Try and get some pic's uploaded for the best advice.

Hi shooterpb :)

Welcome to the forum! :hi:

Here's a thread one of our members put together to help folks get their pictures posted. Hope it helps you too.

Welcome to our forum Shooter.
There is no reason to discuss the anatomy of the screws. That they are long, I am sure.
I have a post that you can find using my own signature area where I give the details of one of my many tank stand builds. It is not so much a question of you wanting to replicate my stand as the hints that I drop along the way. Your 4x4 posts may or may not add to the strength of your stand, it depends on how they are arranged. The way they are arranged part is what I tried to stress in that thread.
As far as posting pictures here, it is darned easy. You sign up with someone like photobucket.com at no charge and post your pictures there. Then you simply paste in the IMG coded link from that site to your message here, as if it were simple text. The end result is a picture here like this one, showing one of my tank stand builds.
