I went to walmart yesterday and was planning on getting some corries for my 10gal in my university dorm........ well, I came across these 5 tiny dojos clumped together in the corner of a tank and no corries to be seen, my mind was made up! hahaha! I had some dojos before and they were by far the best fish i have kept yet! they grew about a foot long and were very social..... hope these little fellas are the same! I can't wait to get them home to my other tank! anyone else just take a bunch of fish when planning to buy 2 of something else? I'll put up some pictures in a bit

Man that happens a lot to me, but luckily I find the fish that I came for, and usually have only enough money for them.

Hope everything works out fine for your dojo loaches, just keep the tank clean, as 5 dojo loaches is pretty overstocked for a 10 gallon, considering that having one dojo loach in a 10 gallon is not recommended.

hahaha! yeah yeah, they are only small, I got a Huge tank for them at home (i leave in a month) they are around 2-3 inches so no worries yet!

I bet they look so cute at that age lol. are they specly or horizontal light stripes on them?

I never really no what im going to buy when i go into a fish store. went into on to get 6 wcmm the other day to bulk out my shoal and ended up buying big pieces of bogwood instead!! does that count

some are REALLY spotted while others or more golden....... either way they all group up and swim around like nuts. They are wacky. lol. I'll get a picture hold on

the 2 spotted ones are a bit larger then the rest, but the others are tiny! hahaha!

Sorry about the quality......

Aww, I'm a sucker for loaches. Dojos are awesome, but they really do need a big tank. Hopefully they'll be very happy and loachey in your big tank at home.

I got an amano shrimp and a clown pleco on two trips to the fish shop to buy food, but I had been keeping an eye out for them for a while, does that count? I really don't get many fish as impulse buys.

Good for you, Scott

As you can see from ym sig, I also have 5 dojos (I call them weather loaches!), and I absolutely love mine.

I find a good trick is to bury cubes of frozen blood worm or sinking wafers under the sand in various places and watch the dojos bury themselves in a mad fury to get at the food. It's so funny to see five tails sticking up in the air.

Good luck with your dojos. They are real characters and such interesting fish.

hahaha! I have seen that a lot already with the others i had..... Actually, there is a picture of one(who has since died....) in my sig... he was about a foot long in that picture! also, I head they will grow to about a foot in aquariums, but have been found in the wild at 32inches!!!!! ........I want one..... hahahah!

I don't know what your stocking plans are, but you might want to keep an eye out for some kuhli loaches for that ten gallon. They're very similar in personality to the dojos (just not fearless, they're rather shy) but stay much smaller, you could keep three or four in there with a few small mid to top dwelling fish if you swapped out the gravel for a sand substrate. I currently have four in my ten gallon with a shrimp and a betta.

cool! I'll look out for them, currently in the 10gal tank I only have one permanent resident, a small minnow i had for about a year from a pond near my house (my little sister caught him..... she meant well.....) hahaha! so I'm keeping the dojos here until I go home and then they will go into the big tank, so this leaves the 10 open for new mates.

I was thinking of getting some kuhli loaches for my tropical tank (equivelent of the dojo in my coldwater set-up) but i find theres somrthing alittle bit un-nerving about kuhli loaches that i cant put my finger on tho!!
