That is cool

Sorry to hijack this thread.

Hi Retired Viking,
Recently, you showed photos of your tank that was full of Anacharis Elodea.
How did you make them grow so well?
Do you mind sharing? And do you use CO2?

I'm not @Retired Viking, but I can give you some tips...

They grow best with their root end in the substrate. What kind of light do you have? Make sure the surface is clear, so they can get a lot of light. I keep my light on for 14 hours a day. Once this plant takes off, you won't have to worry about algae.

I don't use Co2 or any ferts. Here is my 10g tank: https://www.fishforums.net/threads/june-2020-tank-of-the-month-contest-the-nano-tanks.459891/ (Its the 3rd or 4th entry) :)

When I first buy them I start them off in QT in a clear plastic container where I add flourish comp. to and put them in the sunshine. After a week or so of them sitting in the sunshine on my back deck I add them to my shrimp tank which sits in a big bay window facing south. Once they are big I then transfer them to my big tank. Lots of sun shine and flourish is my secret. I do not use CO2

:thanks:Thanks Phoenix and Viking for the good tips!
I used to have many plants in the past until I found out that my tank had gill flukes. Then I removed all the plants and sands.

So, now I am trying to start planted tank again.

Phoenix, you have a beautiful tank and your plants look good.

Nice pictures... but that was a LOT to scroll though. :good: :/
