Two Red Dwarf Gurammis

I have just got 2 red dwarf gurami in my first tank - a 10gallon - one has a bit of its tail missing, I noticed it as soon as it went into my tank, could it be dammaged or diseased? Also what fish go nice with red dwarf guramis? Everyone I've spoken too, including the guy in the fish shop told me I could have a betta fish with them, but I've read on here and other sites that bettas fight most types of fish. HELP!

Anyway i'm thinking of getting some neon tetra, and maybe another small shoal and then 1 big fish i.e betta or angel fish, or a larger gurami

aslong as the waters clean its tail should just grow back. do you know what sex they are coz if its 2 males they might fight. bettas and gourami is a bad idear there from the same family and will fish.
you could add a couple more dwarfs but not a diffrent type of they will fight, you could have neons, or a shoal of 5 corys, or shrimp

Agree with kizno, the betta wouldnt be a good idea. Some bettas are ok with other fish, some fight, its a bit of a lottery really but they are known to fight with gouramis so I'd give the betta a miss.

The tanks nowhere near big enough for an angel fish so I'd recommend a nice small shoal of colourful fish. Neons should only be put in a tank that is older than 6 months as they are very sensitive to changing water conditions.

How about rasboras or endlers?

you have cycled the tank right
and you might want to watch out if you have only juat added the gourami because the fillter bacteria might not be able to cope with all the new fish

yeh the test results show that the tank is fully cycled as everything is reading fine - I might have added them a bit quickly afterwards but the gurammis seemed really boring and I'm impatient haha but I'll see how they go hehe

i have a 10 gall tank, and i keep 2 corys in, 1 otto, 2 platys and about 6 neon tetras, and soon to have about 1 honey gourami in and possibly another otto.

angel fish are unfortunatly too small for a 10 gall and i wouldnt recomend any bigger gouramis in it, i dont even go for dwarf gouramis as i find them a little big and i personaly prefer the more natural looking honeys, but thats totaly your choice.

im glad you have chosen a small shoal with the gouramis and they should get on ok, (touch wood). i wouldnt recomend a betta as they will not get on with the neon tetras as they are sometimes prone to fin nipping and the betta will probably fight with them and the gourami due to the vibrant colours. so a betta is probably out of the question now.

id suggest some little bottom cleaners as i call them, like some corys or ottos. or a mix of both, (ie what i chose to do as i couldnt deside.) but i would recomend both as i had 3 ottos (before i went on holiday about 2 weeks ago and 2 died when i got back ) and they used to just hide under rocks and keep out the way, but when i got the corys they started folowing them around the tank and now mines always out pretending its a cory sweet little fish, id definatly recommend bottom dwellers to you. but not yet! let your first lot settle in and your filter get used to the waste first! patience is needed in this hobbie if you want to be succesful in it...unfortunatly

I'm thinking of getting one more small shoal, I saw some red nose tetras today which looked really nice, and then maybe a guppy or two and a bottom feeder of some sort since I don't know if a betta is a good idea - although I saw one in a pet shop today with some neon tetras.

if you want a bottom dweller i would get 6 corys they are better in bigger groups

How about a red tailed shark, my little brother really likes the look of them, as do I, but I think they might fight other fish?
