I got some lyretail swords the last thursday and earlier this week i noticed one of the fish kept chasing the rest round,
I had a look on the internet asked friends and they said he was just trying to sort the pecking order so i just kept an eye on them see if it would settle down but it has calmed down abit but not completely.
The fish that seems to be chasing the others doesn't look like a lyretail just looks like a normal swordtail.
(I'de get some pictures but I haven't got the hang of taking pictures of them yet)
I was just wondering if because it was a different kind of swordtail which is why he is chasing the others round?

They are what my lyretails look like

Hi there Antere. WHat you have found is two variations of highly deveoped swordtails. Such fish are often the result of a swordtail / platy cross and are not really a species at all. True wild type swordtails where you might say they actually are a specific species are almost unheard of in the fish hobby although those of us in fish clubs sometimes get a few. In my case I have some Xiphophorus helleri, the main swordtail half for many of the crosses. Instead you have two different fancy swords, a highfin lyretail in the picture with several fish and a red velvet in the other picture. I am not an expert on the fancy swords so someone will probably be along to correct my statements with better detail or more recent pet shop names for the fish.
BTW, you can post pictures directly here by including the img codes and a link to the original location. This is your first picture

and this is your second picture

Both of these pictures appear to belong to someone else.
