Turtles

how long was the painted turtle in the tank? You have had a lot of different pets for your age, pretty lucky.

Some smaller ones are the Musk or stinkpot turtle and the chinese stripe neck (think thats what its called) they get about 4"- 6 or 7". They are smaller but will still need a good sized tank. Also you are going to need a large filter and UV lighting and a basking lamp. £££

Are there any turtles that will fit into a 20 gallon (30" x 12" x 16")?

Cheers

Matt
30x12x16 yes one painted turtle can fit in that size of tank dont say im wrong i used to have a painted turtle and i know about reptile than fish
I'm not going to say your wrong, in fact your right, an adult painted turtle may be able to fit in that tank.
When I say fit, I mean you would pretty much have to wrestle it in and it wouldn't be able to move at all after.

The animal should be able to turn round, and have adequate land and water area. This makes a 6'x2'x2' the minimum IMO.

No way to keep an animal. You cannot keep a painted turtle in a tank of those dimensions, unless it's temporary and you intend to upgrade it. Anyone who has tried/ is trying to keep a painted turtle in such a tank long-term is either irresponsible or ill-advised and in no place to offer advice on the keeping of these reptiles ;).
