Tuckseado tailed Guppy.

Woke this morning to notice that bob's tail fin is looking rather ragtag around the back edge but more worrying is there is a whole in the middle like a rip :shout:

Tank 190 litre Juwel Trigon 190

Stocking in my signature

internal filter came with the tank plus I got a Fluval 405 hooked up to the tank

Water Stats: done with an API master freshwater kit except the kh and alkalinity

Temperature = 27.8 degrees C

Ammonia = 0

PH = 7.4 Mix of RO and treated tap water

Nitrie = 0

Nitrate = just over the 20 mark definitely not the 40

KH = 5.8

Alkalinity = 2.06

Last water change 30 % 3 days ago.

He is eating okay and swimming well his behaviour has not changed at all except the obvious change to the condition to his tail

I have some API Melafix Natural extract of tea tree says add 5ml for every 38 litres works out at 25 ml I added 20 ml exactly.

Am I taking the correct actions and should I be doing more ?

Oh I do not have a second tank all thought I do have a sort of separation net thing i could put him in if you think this is wise ?

I have not observed any aggressive behaviour from any of the other fish

Could have been the tetras, danios or even another guppy, I wouldnt add melafix unless you really needed to and it just looks like its been nipped, not fin rot or anything sinister.

Do some extra water changes over the next few days, clean water does wonders for healing fins. It should heal up in no time.

ask your zebra danios, they will most probably have done it

Hmm I have been wondering about them and if i need to find a new home for them I may have a chat with the LFS see if they will take them for me see if they can give them a new home
