Tragedy Struck

As some of you may know I have a 10gal divided betta tank. I had one male VT on one side and a male CT on the other.

The beginning of November I had to have back surgery, so I grudingly allowed my mom to fish-sit. Somehow, the divider in the tank got pushed over and the CT got onto the VT's side. Needless to say one of them died.

I came home to a very riled CT who was continuing to attack a completely shredded dead VT. It was pretty horrible. It took the poor CT almost a day to calm down after I removed the dead fish and fixed the tank. He didn't started eating for two or three days. I was so upset, I had the VT for almost a year and he was pretty personable, he would eat from my fingers and would always do a little wiggle dance for me when I came up to the tank.

Well, I'm finally getting around better, and am able to drive. So I decided to get a new betta this afternoon. I got another VT boy, and he is gorgeous, he was almost white with a dark edging around his fins in the cup, and he's already darkened up to a really pretty lilac color. He even ate not 10 minutes after I put him in the tank. He saw me feeding the CT and wanted some too. The little cutie ate 3 pellets and boy did he have a fat belly.

Here in a little bit I'll take some pictures and I would like everyone to give me suggestions for names for both of them. I've never named my fish before, but maybe that will bring me better luck.

Well, got some pics. The new guy didn't come out so well, but he's still settling in. I'm not sure what color he'll turn out to be, shortly after I put him in the tank he turned a pretty lilac, now he seems to be a light blue-gray. Any suggestions on names would be appreciated.

So sorry to hear you havent been well, but glad you are on the mend.
It must have been awful to have your fish fight like that.
Your new one looks like the one I almost bought a week or so ago, I had to scroll back up to see where you were from!
Anyway your tank set up looks great and so do your fish. Have fun naming them lol

So glad to hear yu are feeling better and up and about. So sorry for your loss though!! As for a name how about "Chance" since thats what you have given him, A chance to have a great life!! Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

can you tell me what a Ct is they look like beautiful fish. are they tropical or coldwater as want beautiful tank mates for my fancies. the vt is beautiful what does that stand for as well??

VT is a veil tail betta, and a CT is a crown tail betta if you are talking fancy gold fish then NO you cant have them, bettas are tropical fish, and the males are usually very agressive and have to be kept alone.

Thank you everyone for your concern and replies. I am doing much better and will be going back to work in two weeks.

Liz2, it was pretty awful, but unfortunately/fortunately I wasn't here for the actual fight, just the aftermath, which was bad enought.

Ravenwing, I love your name suggestions, so I think I will go with Shadow for the VT.

So, everyone we just need to name the CT, any and all suggestions are welcome.

Thank you. I stumbled into betta keeping rather by accident. Mbuna are truly my first love, but the bettas are just so darn personable I couldn't help myself.

Oh, and Kyrielle, your the winner with the CT's name, I think Blaze suits him quite well.
