hi for my 40 litre aquaqube i have 38 watts of lightin
im doin a planted tank
i will add co2 but will 38 watts be too much snd giv me algae problems
cuz that is one thing i wanna avoid

Might be ok, but unless you plant the cr*p out of the bottom of the tank algae will be covering your ears, lol.

Yeh you'll need to plant heavily, and add extra nutrients like NO3 and PO4. You'll also need a stable CO2 of 30ppm. Have you read the Estimative Index article?
