Too Many Fish?

Ok so I have a 110 litre tank and I'm not sure if I have too many fish in it or not.
Here's the fish that are currently in my tank:

10 Platys
7 Neon Tetra
5 Zebra Danio
5 Diamond Tetra
5 Guppies
4 Glass Fish
3 Kissing Gourami
1 Dwarf Gourami
1 Bala Shark
1 Fire Eel

im pretty sure that fire Eel will be a problem here...size and such, i personaly wouldnt put that many in a tank either i think you may* be a little overstocked, wait for the pros to come along, they will let you know

Massively overstocked yes, but it's not just that you also have fish which are potentially too big for you tank. Keeping them in there could cause various problems with regard to both health and temperament.

A fully grown Kissing Gourami - 12" each

A fully grown bala shark - 16"

A fire eel - Often stunted in tanks due to lack of space and so only reach 20" or so but they could easily reach 30" if kept properly

The only advice I can give regarding the above fish is to rehome them before any problems occur and any damage is caused. Rehoming is easy, there is a classified section, or aquarist-classifieds or even returning them to the original shop and telling them they were wrong to just let you take those fish without asking what tank they were going to.

If the above fish were removed the tank would still be overstocked but with very regular maintenance and at least double the filtration it's do-able presuming that each species of live bearers you listed are the same sex.
By regular maintenance I'm talking at least 30% every week without fail. However you may need more depending on your water test results.

1 Dwarf Gouramifine, but shouldn't be kept with Kissing Gourami
1 Bala Sharkagain wil get wayyyy to big, 16" long
1 Fire Eeland again will get way to big, 15" long

you are heading for a disaster with this tank if you don't rehome some of these fish.

Oh yeah, you're overstocked. I'm counting 42 fish in a 29 gallon tank! You just have to fight the urge at the pet shop. I know it's hard.

If glass catfish then I agree with ianho and personally I dont think the tank is big enough for them. I presumed you meant glass fish as in indian glass fish though.

^^ If the OP had 42 micro rasbora, small tetra etc etc the tank wouldn't actually be overstocked at all. You are correct in that it's overstocked, but not just cause there are 42 fish

It was so hard to remember what fish exaclty I had in my tank and i missed a few out. I also rehomed some of the fish too so this is what is in the tank now.

1 Pleco
1 Bala Shark
1 Fire Eel
1 dwarf Gourami
2 Opaline Gourami
2 Chinese Algae Eaters
3 Clown Loach
3 Kissing Gourami

I had more in than I realised so I rehomed the following:

4 Mollies
5 Guppies
4 Indian Glass Fish
8 Platys
4 Ricefish
So that's around 25 fish gone.

I want to keep all the Tetras and Danio, but the fish that were going to be a problem such as the eel and shark, I want to keep those too.
I'm upgrading to a 300 litre minimum tank in a couple of months, so should those bigger fish be ok until then?
Will the new tank be big enough for those fish then?

Glass catfish can get up to 8" as well.

To be fair the only fish really suitable for your tank are the livebearers (if all one sex) and the dwarf gourami. Really you should try and rehome the other fish.
The smaller fish would get eaten as the larger ones grow, so even if you got a much larger tank they won't be able to cohabit for too long. The Eel is a predatory fish, who would definitely enjoy snacking on your livebearers.
