Due to the extreme heat here in NJ today (over 100 w/ humidity today and still 95 after 9 pm) my fish tank temp is at 90 degrees and I already lost a zebra danio today, Im assuming due to the heat because it appeared fine the past few days.
I know there is not much I can do but does anyone have any suggestions on something to lower the temp??

Thanks for the advice, I didnt turn the light on at all tonight. Im gonna do a small water change I think

acturally just remove the top cover of ur tank and water will cool down pretty fast ofcourse ur home have to have air conditioning unit else just do water change but it wouldn't help much as you cant make temperature in ur tank drop more then 2oC every water change as ur house temperature will heat it up pretty fast as well. So rather let it be fish can take 90 no problem as long they have oxygen. So add airstone. I doubt its the temperature killed ur fish its the lag of oxygen that killed ur fish.

If you can get a fan or air conditioning blowing directly on the tank, that will help as well. Other than buying a chiller, which can be quite expensive, there aren't many easy ways to cool a tank.

Yesterday I cooled my 20 gal down from 86 to 78 in about an hour by havign a fan blowing across the water. That also increases the oxygen by stiring up the tank's water and creating more ripples.

In my betta's tank, I added a drop of dechlorinator (1 gal bowl) and added an ice cube, which also slowly melted, with no bad effects.

I will further vote for the fan on the top. The evaporation will cool the tank fairly efficiently. If you require further cooling, place wet towels aorund the tank as well. The evaporation from the top of the tank coupled with the evaporation from the wet towels will cool the entire tank pretty well.
