Well, you look to be getting very good A-Bac growth for only 9 or 10 days into a fishless cycle. Sometimes one doesn't see ammonia drop to zero until two or three weeks. The nitrites(NO2) don't seem to have done much, but we wouldn't expect much from them this early on. Did you use any mature media?

No .. wish i had some mature media tho...
had tank set up for a bout 2 weeks before dicovered u gals and guys
was just doing wat LFS said which was
fill tank add tap safe then put in some filter aid then bang in a week add fish.......lol
sounded so easy
well never got to add fish.. water level kept being wrong they kept trying to sell me stuff.. then found this place.. your all are mind of information
if you looked a my firdt thread confused? it sums it up a bit...
again as i aways say .please any information you caan give im open for all good news bad news
just wantto get this on its way

Yes, I remember looking through your main thread while I was off getting bad internet access during my travels (off looking at fish on faraway islands for me!) I think I remember it looked like you were doing ok. My posts about it never posted up I don't think. Its odd that you show nitrites(NO2) at 2.0ppm right from day one. Was there any nitrite in your tap water? And that level has just stayed the same, which is also a bit odd. Nonetheless, the ammonia is being put in and then is dropping, which is normal and good. Eventually the nitrite(NO2) may just go ahead and increase up to the test limit and that will be your nitrite spike phase, which can last quite a long time sometimes.

right then just stank the lounge out
did not put lid back on ammonia bottle propally
any how
add 5ml of ammonia
will check again at 12hrs ish

Waterdrop.. question if i may you said something about my nitrite levels being bit low could you explain for me

Thanks
Ginga

EDIT ...lololol you answered my question before i even asked it ..great work thanks :thanks:

Yes, normally we expect to see zero ppm nitrite(NO2) in the typical tap water and zero ppm nitrite(NO2) in the beginning week or two of the tank water, with just small traces of nitrite showing up eventually and then all of a sudden, when the ammonia oxidizing bacteria really kick in, we see the nitrite(NO2) "spike," which just means it goes higher than the test measures and stays too high for a long time. (Each 1ppm of ammonia is processed into about 2.7ppm of nitrite(NO2) and eventually into about 3.6ppm of NO3, so lots and lots of NO2 gets produced by all that household ammonia you'll be dumping in!)
