I currently have my pregnant platy in a breeder. I want ot make sure that its not too early and she does not get all stressed out as i am new to this and have been doing alot of reading. I know some people are against the breeders all together but i would like to save all of the fry which is why im using the breeder. Any info on wheather or not its too early or would would be greatly aprriciated,
thank you :good:

The best bet is to wait until the very last minute to place a fish as big as a platy in a breeder. I no longer use them but a platy is a rather large fish compared to the size of most breeding traps. That means that the time she spends in the trap must be the absolute minimum.

judging by the picture could you maybe give me a time frame? so i know cause i stated before i am new to this and am not really sure exactly what to look for

It's not as simple that, to just look and est when their due. Howver a pic would help too.

Personally I would wait till I see fry and then remove them.
From this you may lurn to see what the female looks like just before giving birth and how she acts too. This will make it much easier next time if you still wanted to try her.
Most livebearers give birth at night so looking for first thing in the morning is always the best time.

Gook luck with your fish.

yup, I agree with the spawning at night, that's how i have been caught off guard

breeder traps will only stress the fish out, I made that mistake once and won't do it again. Now, I use my 60ltr as a birthing tank, once babies are born, i remove the mum.
