Tight Schooling Fish?

are there any small schooling fish that'll school tightly together even in small aquariums? any commonly available is preferred in my experience they all seem to space out and only school tightly when they're scared.

Not kept them my self but I hear good things about harliquin rasboras and rummy nose tetras.

Agreed Rummynose and Rasboras are two of the best but, with any shoaling species if thwy feel too secure they will go off and do their own thing

Just what I was going to say.

If you're shoaling fish aren't shoaling then it's a good sign that they are relaxed and happy in your tank.
My green neons spread out but not as far as many of my other tetras and rasboras (hengels).

yep, Rummys imo are the best shoaler.

In our tank the neon tetras rarely shoal they just laze about in small groups but the copper harlequins are always on the move in a shoal and traying to swim against the current of the filter.

I'd go with harliquin rasboras, look great when you have a decent bunch of them

Impossible to achieve I'm afraid. We are dealing with living organisms here. No fish will constantly shoal tightly. They will regroup when they feel threatened (safety in numbers)
You will always get constant dispersal and regrouping most commonly seen in tetra sp.

They will shoal in a tank not really 'school'.

I think in a smaller tank you'd have to go for your smallest variety of tetra, e.g. neons.
