[font="arial][size="2"]My tigers have started to show a new behaviour - at increasing frequency they are doing a sort of flick / half turn to briefly brush against the sand / rock / plant. Two are head standing (see my other post) however there seems to be little information on why they might be doing this (anything from poor water quality - tested good - to mating behaviour). We're just getting stressed by this as we had a dead tiger yesterday...

Having a panicky look around there seems to be any number of possible causes for fish to be itchy - is there any procedure / checklist / things to look for to work out what it is before I start chucking chemicals at the tank in a random attempt to solve the issue? We can't see any white spots.

Just to complete the picture we have dwarf chain loaches and 2 Kribs (with 10 babies) in the tank... (also the tank is constructed using clear silicon - I seem to remember that some meds discolour this??)

Thanks

Head standing Tiger are normally a sign of over feeding, dont worry too much about the flicking, fish do this quite naturally (unless its excessive), but do keep an eye on it for any white spot or sore patches, its highly unlikely the Tigers will be stressed, even with overly agressive kribs defending fry.

Tested the water recently out of interest? Feeding fry foods can result in poor water quality very quickly....although in a tank your size, that shouldnt be a problem.

Thanks tizer, the water chemistry is basically bang on. Interestingly my wife reports that they're not doing anything unusual at the moment - she suspects its a new evening game "let's wind the humans up"...
Interesting about the eating thing - we didn't feed last night and only peas the night before....
