Ummmmmmm..... help!!
I have a SERIOUS thunder storm with HUGE hail balls going on outside!
The noise is really scaring the fish.
Their fins have clamped and they are generally showing signs of stress!
I've used stress-coat, etc but it hasn't made a difference.
I have not known this before!
Any ideas???
EDIT: The windows are shaking too!! OK...... I'm beginning to get a little scared!!

P.S. This storm is amazing and I've never seen hail stones this big before...... let alone in August!!!!

Wow hail storm I havent seen one of them in 5 years or so. I hope your fish gets thrpugh it ok. I know how easy it is to get them stressed out. Mabey if you turn the lights out .

The lights are out... I did that instantly. These hail stones are only a little bit smaller than golf balls, I'm worried they are going to break a window and it's just me and the fish and the cat.... she's not so bothered, just watching it!!! The noise is amazing!

Seriously getting worried now! Not only have I got one broken window but the fish look terrified, they're hiding and curled up quite severely. I'm worried about the electricity now too. This is mad....it's August and I'm in England!!
Has anyone got any ideas about how I can de-stress them. Classical music maybe!??!?!!?!?? I'l try anything!!

Do you think mabey covering them with a thick cover or something to that effect so they cant hear the hail as loud..I dont know I am just throwing ideals at you.

EEk, i hope thats not heading my way, im only about 10 miles from Woking.

Its the low pressure that occurs during thunderstorms that affects fish so there is little you can do about it i'm afraid, they'll just have to ride it out :(

Sorry to hear about the problem. Hail that big is very dangerous and does major damage. I hope you don't lose power. I'm not aware of anyway to releive the stress in the fish. Hopefully, once the noise stops they will be fine.

Oh poor things I have never had to deal with anything like this before. I hope the storm doesnt get too bad.

All ideas are welcome no matter how wierd they sound. I think it's passing as it's a lot quieter now and hopefully the fish will recover!
I have NEVER seen a storm like that before. The sky went BLACK and I mean BLACK. It was horrible.... really quite scary actually. The only calm person in this house was the cat who just looked at me as if to say 'chill Mum....it's just a storm, it won't last forever'.
CFC where abouts are you then??

Been through a couple hail storms and they are scary, especially when the hail is hitting the windows so hard.Hail pretty much ruins cars too. No way to get the dents out.

hope it doesn't come our way either. we in manchester althou we did have quite a loud clap of thunder ealier but that was it. hope your fish are ok

I hadn't even thought about my car!
Serious issue as the hail has broken two windows of the house. The fish seem to be coming out of their hiding place........... like people coming out of storm shelters to survey the damage..... bless them.
The new guppy fry were pretty cool about it.... no real problems with them. I think they will recover but......... that storm was something else! I've never seen anything like it ever, and hope I never do. Anyone in the UK be prepared for a storm as I don't know where it's going.

Im just two Junctions up the M3 from you, just outside of Twickenham. We just had a little thunder and some heavy rain for a few minutes but its passed already and the sun is back out :)

I'm right off Junction 3 of the M3!
I was in Twickenham yesterday!!
Fish seem to be recoving slowly...thank goodness it didn't last two much longer.
Got broken windows to block up now though!

Sorry guys, i think it came up from Southampton, we had it fairly bad at lunchtime but not with the hail, just a hell of a lot of rain and alot of thunder.

Hope the fish get over it quickly, and you manage to get your windows fixed quickly.

Claire
