Thought I would say hi my names Chris and im from Essex UK and give a quick insite of how i started with my aquarium

i got my tank off one off a ex army mate and this is how i got it as he lost total interest in it and ive now turned it into my beginners setup,

all i know is its a 2.5ft jewel tank and as you can see its in quite bad condition

i gave it a good old scrub out the whole 5 hours worth of it as i remember and this is how i got it looking that night

and this is how it stayed for a year and half and little did i know that the amount of bog wood that was in the tank turned the water a stale green within 3 weeks,i put up with the bog wood until 5 months ago and how i changed the decor . Here is a few pics to show how my tank has changed i know its not going to be everyones taste but i like how it is at the moment before i move on to a bigger tank

and then thought it still didnt feel right so i got speaking to a friend and they said they had a few baby's i could have and when he turned up i couldnt believe that there was 20 in the bag !!!! so i dropped them in after leaving them for a hour and slowly intruduicing the tank water to them and still to this day minus 4 that got eaten by my fish i already had they are all swimming happily, even so ive had a further 8 fry in the last 2 weeks.

how they are as of 2weeks ago

and a quick vid of how many i had sorry for bad quality as was on iphone and i would mute the vol as youll here my kids ect making loads of noise lol

and i added some more rocks as it still didnt feel right to me how the tank was looking

and ive added some more mollies to the tank a pair of white sail fin a pair of dalmaition a pair of orange mollies and i did have a pair of black mollies but they died within a few hours of being in the tank ( i think stress ) and finally a few pics of how my tank is today

current fish total number
9 mollies
roughly 16 guppy's think i have a possible cross in a couple of them and im passing on 8 to my neighbour
1 tetra and not sure what the other 3 are

wow am jelous your tank looks amazing and great to see the before piccies what a huge amount of hardwork you have put into it!! :)

oh is trhe same post ok but wow great job going to intro myself now!! :p

how big is your tank? looking to get a 4ft 1 soon.. yours looks fairly big..

Welcome to the forum and don't be so harsh basboi85.
I see a healthy tank in your pictures that may not suit your own tastes. The bit of algae, and it is very little, is not a health threat to any fish. The decor may not suit you, I doubt your own best efforts would suit me, we are all a bit different when it comes to what we like so that is really a non-issue. As I see it, it is time for you to decorate the tank the way you would like it and ignore anything we say along those lines, since we really are all different in our tastes.

BTW I see lots of fish that are not livebearers in your pictures like the penguin tetras.

The only thing that looks missing to me is live plants, they really make a difference. I really LOVE what you did with the rocks... been looking for rocks and can't find the right thing (will soon be setting up a 3 foot tank). Where did you get your rocks, by the way? Did you buy then or find them outside?

You've done a great job and I bet those fish are thankful. Looks great!

Wow, you've done a great job with that tank! The bog wood looked amazing too once you had cleaned it all up, but the rocks look amazing too!

Basboi, I have merged the identical threads you posted in two sections into this single one.

Looks awesome! You've done a great job and welcome to the forum we all love to see new tanks and watch them progress over time so keep us up to date!

The tabk its self is 2.5ft long and can remember the rest of the messurements but holds 100l .
I have 4 fish left from when I got the tank off my mate that he had in there and thanks for telling what they was as had no idea what they was l.

And I got the rocks from the wife's grandad who got them from a beach many years ago. I boiled washed them and scrubbed them to make sure they was clean.

My next tank project I want is a 4x2x2 tank that I was going to put a few live plants in there I'll add a pic of the build I'm going to do once I get enough funds together

heres what my next tank set up is going to be

I was about to sing a million praises, but my joking and silly better half took over and....did I see some undies hanging around in that picture  I hope they were clean.

Ahhhhhhhhhh just a bit awkward lol but yea they are clean lol and remember brighter colours attract the females lol
