i was doing a waterchage earlier , i had put the hosepipe in the tank and turned on the tap to re-fill the tank. then the missus said hmm im hungry i fancy a bacon sarnie. so i said yeah me too , tell ya what keep an eye on the tank il go make some. yeah ok she says. in i come from the kitchen with grub only to see a giant waterfall running down the front of the tank. yep you guessed it the silly cow was too busy on facebook and wasnt even watching the ***** thing!!

lots of swearing an nearly every towel in the house later , the tank is now too cold for the discus , ive had to drain some more out to put a bit of hot in , and ive got the raging hump

moral of the story make the woman cook!

 silly cow was on facebook, thats life, things happen all the time like this, moral of the story is, start one job, finish that job then start next, ive done it other way, started cooking pasta then thought, hmm do a quick water change, totally foget pasta which all water boils away then cooks dry the pasta until alarm goes bepp beep bepp beep

You will prob be ok if you have warmed it up.... never let your stomach win

Bloody women, eh ;)

I left my boyfriend to look after my fish for two weeks while I was in Malta and came back to find algae run rampant and 10 fish dead.

Moral of the story? Don't make non-fish people do stuff with the fish!

think i managed to get things dry enough to avoid water damage . tanks now back up to temp , no real harm done. but next time she moans at me for spilling a little water when doing things in the tank shes gonna get both barrels

Ooops!! I cant trust my hubby with my tanks.

BTW was the bacon sarni good

I loved the title of this thread! Doesn't the "this time" imply that you've had a few water change mishaps???????

Why? Water changes aren't that difficult are they?

Syphon out old water, replace with new. Simples!! :S

Well...stuff can happen. My syphon hose is not very long, and I have to hold the end over a bucket while I vac with the other end. Last week I lost track, looked down, and realized I was syphoning tank water into the base of my aquarium stand.

I've done that - been so engrossed in the gravel vacuuming that I've overfilled the bucket and started pouring water on my foot! Much less of an issue since I started siphoning the water straight out into the garden with the hose. :)

Or you busy syphoning into the sink in the next room (via hose) and dont realise the sink is blocked and empty 50+gallons of water all over the kitchen floor
