Third Time Lucky I Hope

well like clock work my corys are spawning agian
it seems to be the same day and same time they do this

so hopefully this time haveing 2 failed attemps over the weeks were i lost the fry to a dodgy air pump and the second batch to im not really sure what happend but they didnt hatch at all
so im really hopeing i can raise some wrigglers this time so fingers crossed

thxs jollysue now im really starting to like panda corys and im thinking of getting a group of them over the next week or so. iv heared there a bit more delicate than dronze and iv never keept them before any chance you can give me any info on them jollysue thxs in advance sorry about spelling mistake bronze not dronze lol

Typos are not spelling mistakes! --maybe editing errors.

I recommend you get in touch with Sp00ky for the pandas or to get info on getting them. You want good healthy aquarium bred from wild caught or F1 or close, or wild caught. Try to avoid farm bred or their desendents as they are often overbred, amongst other things.

I cannot garuntee there will be C. panda there, but there could be. I have access to farm bred from the CR, but they are not what I would call the best I have seen.

Ian's suggestion of the auction is a good one. Also any Cory groups in your area may have some panda breeders. Ian certainly is much more aware of UK sources than I am--as a matter of fact he may be more aware of sources in the States!

I am not sure about the CR--possibly the Chech Republic, code for farm and hormone bred. C may be China another source of puppy mill fish.

F1 are fish spawned from wild caught fish. They often make good breeders of healthy fish although they may be more sensitive to water condition differences from their breeding tank than wild caught. But on the other hand wild caught are reputed to be more difficult to spawn in the aquarium. I have mixed the two for breeding groups with good results by adding wild caught to breeding groups optained from more experienced breeders.

yeah id love to go to the one Ian sugested but its a bit far away from were i live
pluss transport is a bit of a problen aswell because i dont drive

well my eggs dindnt hatch again from mondays spawning
i waited till thursday they all turned white again i dont get it ,
the first day or so goes fine and i can see them developing inside the eggs but after they are due to hatch they go white this is the 2nd time its done this now
i took the eggs out the tank and put the pairents back in the tank on thursday

now today they laid another lot of eggs but only about 100 this time not there useual 250-300

iv keep the pairents in the tank and took the eggs out not to stress the fish too mutch moveing them about this time round .
because thats only 5 days since she layed the last

iv put the eggs in a container floating in the tank with an air stone

well on the fist lot that hatched i used a fungus product by waterlife
and the others that didnt hatch i used meth blue so im wondering if its out to do with that because thats the only thing iv done differnt

well out the 100 eggs iv collected this time id say 20-30 are forming inside the eggs i havent used anything on them this time
there due to hatch any were from 4am uk time so if any hatch i know what i been doing wrong
and i can go from there then


i know this has nothing to do with the subject but can i keep a group of

schwartzi or sterba,s with my bronze corys
iv found a mail order site and will be getting a group of 6 of one or the other next week

Your bronze Corys should easily adapt to either the higher temps preferred by the C. sterbai ( 24-28 c.) or the lower temps preferred by the C. schwartzi (22-24 c.) One issue could be the C. sterbai reputation for hybridizing. Although I have not experienced it. I don't keep my oversexed C. aeneus with them either. lol
