There Has Got To Be An Easier Way...

Today I started scraping the blue spray paint off my tank. With a stanley blade. My arm aches and I have not even done half of one end yet!
I have the back to do as I'm going to spray it dark blue or black. I would have left it but the guy made a bad job of it and it just looks cheap.

Is there a quicker and easier way to get it off??

Should be getting my stand next week so want to start getting it ready to position it

Paint remover I would guess, cheap from a hardware store, wipe it on, paint comes off.

Is it peeling off, or is is coming off like dust?

If it is peeling off it may be an oil based paint, so while spirit or methylated spirits could be used to try and soften the paint back up.

If it is coming off like dust then it may be a spray paint - which you can use cellulose thinners to remove but they're not easy to come by. They are also hard to get off the glass once youre done.

Best stick to a blade and elbow greese. You can make it a little easier by lubricating teh blade. You can use washing up liquid to do this.

If you do decide to re-paint it. Use poster paint or a matt finish water based emulsion. Then when its time to remove - warm water will do the trick.

It is peeling off so I guess its oil based. My neighbour asked why there were crayon shavings all over the floor. Lol!

get nitramorz you paint it on and it peels off easy

Be very careful using strong solvents. You don't want something that might attack the silicone in the joints.

oooooooo what a fab idea!! that would save a few quid too if you have more than one tank you want to do, backing can be quite expensive
