comfortably numb
well my long awaited rotkeil arrive today and hes a fair bit bigger than i thought hed be. i rekon he must be pushing 7 inches. he is still very shy and showing clear signs of stress. well not surprising really given hes been bagged up for 24 hours and driven in a delivery van from cornwal!
he is showing good colour considering. his face is nice and bluey/purpley with the red markings and the shoulders are quite red his anal and pectoral fins are nice and orangey. 1 slight gripe is his ( yep hes male ) caudal fin and the extended tip of his dorsal fin arent quite in tip top shape a little tatty but no sign of redness or infection so give him a few days in good water hel be a stonker. but overall im happy with him.
he will soon heal up as all my other fish their fins are absolutely flawless so i know ive got good water .
he is still way too shy to even attempt pics yet hes out swimming around but if you approach the tank he hides in the mangrove roots.
so far seems to be getting on fine with vinny who follows him around like a sheep! if he remains that peacefull once settled looks like they will make quite a double act!
as soon as he gains a bit of confidence i will get some pics up .

hes in the society now too. well he had to go in there. you know youre gonna get 1 with all that freed up space in your tank minxy
