hi. i have some room in my tank and i thought it would be nice to put an american cichlid in there. i was thinking about 1 Astronotus ocellatus in a 30g,(small) or something like a firemouth or ram. i just wanted to check in with u guys. also, is it true that you can train an oscar to do tricks? thnx

30 gallons is nowhere near big enough for an oscar. You need to think of the adult size of the fish.

Many oscars , as well as other fish like to "play" with things like ping pong balls and so on. I have no idea if you could train one to do tricks, but my grandfather's oscar used to play with a little diver man. He'd pick it up, take it to the surface , let it go, watch it fall, then go and get it and do the same again.

Rams may work but they can be pretty sensitive. It would depend how mature your tank is and what else you have in there.
