They were out of Espei's and I need a cory for my 75g. Not sure which type to choose.

I'm really starting to like The Espei Rasboras myself.

Can I recommend the Threelined, False Julii Corys aka Trilineatus Corydoras? Very nice patterns, not too expensive, fairly hardy, good temp range & fun to watch. They have them at Petco & Petsmart but they're cheaper at Petco & they have a better warranty. The ones at my Petco are larger too. :good:

If I could have any Cory I'd like the Sterbai variety.

Ones at my petco are $4.50 each. Not sure what they are yours. $6.39 at my petsmart too.

Hey lovelies!

My 2 platy fry schooled with my espeis when I put them in. The one still is lol

I want bacopa, but I'm not sure where I could get some.
Petsmart sells "Moneywort" Bacopa and I have some of theirs in my 36 gallon but most of the stuff that's growing out-of-control is the Lemon Bacopa which is also known as "Bacopa Caroliniana." It's also available at Petsmart but you have to buy the little white cardboard package with a little window on it showing the plant. It's look more like an herb when you buy it than the way it looks in my tank right now. They were a bit expensive like $7.99 or something but they give you a lot of little tiny plants that you spread around planting in clumps. They require moderate to high lighting but I don't dose my tanks with ferts, potassium or anything like that.

Sterbai cories are nuts... They go wild... Get sterbais! :good:

Hey lovelies!
I just found a firefish in my nano reef. Hopefully he makes it. I mean my cherub angelfish is quite mean. I also have a meanie hawkfish. Sometimes nemo the clown is very aggressive.

Your petsmart is different then mine. Mine doesn't sell plants other then the emersed ones in tubes. My petco sells a lot of plants, but only because the manager likes planted tanks. Bacopa Caroliniana is the nicest bacopa variety, IMO. Bacopa Monneri tends to look a little droopy even when healthy.

Keep in mind, plants will adapt to whatever light you give them. It only affects their growth rate. Plants that are listed as "high light" can do well in low. They may not grow to their potential is all. I have proven that. The moderator ian says repeatedly around the planted section that a plants color doesn't depend on light, but other variables. I am skeptical on that one though. I plan to test it out with some Ludwiga repens which went green in my low light, but this time I will does daily ferts and see if it stays red.

I may do sterbai since Angelfish temps would work well with them. I LOVE the Trilineatus cories but I haven't seen them here in forever. If Bob's tropicals can get them for me, then I'd go with those. :good:

All good points FF.............

I'm hardly a plant expert but The Lemon Bacopa in Zach's tank is growing like it's on steriods! The Amazon Sword, Java Fern & Anubias in his tank are doing good also. However, that red plant, can't remember the name but it starts with a "T," is very droopy but it is growing just not very red anymore & the leaves are a bit wilted. That's the same as my Red Rubin Sword plant in my 36 gallon. It grows new leaves every few days but then the leaves turn greener and take on a slightly warped shape. I believe those red plants might require ferts and/or CO2 and I'm not ready to start getting into that right now, not on 3 tanks anyway.

Go with the Sterbai or Trilineatus, you won't be sorry! I believe the Sterbai actually like the hotter temps..............

Your plants look healthy in your pictures! Have you smelled the lemon bacopa, it really smells lemony! {the snozberries taste like snozberries} haha Wonka!

I'll take that as a compliment, thank you! I've never actually smelled them but next water change I'll give it a sniff. The Moneywort has much more rigid stalks but the leaf petals are rounded, very droopy and prone to browning and even falling off leaving just the stalk & a few leaves. The Lemon Bacopy sways all over the place with the crazy water current I have now. The leaves are much more pointed and there's just plain more leaves period. I do prefer them but they don't grow as tall as fast as the Moneywort.

Interesting note: One of my Moneywort plants has a few buds on it! What the heck is that? I assume it's a good thing? They're growing out just like leaves but they are buds instead...........maybe it's an alien bacopa?

maybe flowers? I know when emersed Bacopa has flowers. I've seen it at a lake before.

Menu: Teriyaki Chicken stir-fry and sticky rice.
