The Marine Betta Kit

Going by the picture I can almost garauntee that will kill a betta. Please don't get that.

Get a 5 gallon tank. It's small enough to fit on a small table/drawers ect but not big enough to get in anyone's way or tank up vast amounts of space. It's a safe minimum size for the betta, easier for you to look after (more water + diluted waste + once a week water change in stead of every couple of days )

If you can go bigger than 5 gallons then do so.

You will need a
small cannister or HOB filter with an adjustable flow ( slow it right down ) or a sponge filter and you will need a heater. Plenty of live or silk plants to hide in as well.

You do not have to buy one brand new from a shop so not much at all.

Craigslist, Garage sales, Car boot sales, even ebay will all turn up good cheap second hand tanks for very little ( sometimes free!!! )

I got a 12 gallon tank a few weeks ago for £1!!! ( a couple of $ )

Just keep an eye open for the bargains. You may have to wait a little longer for the betta but it will be worth it to have a nice decent size tank that's safe for him and easy for you.

I've been too couple yard sales looking around but i never seen a tank there

No you have to go to loads. And look on ebay and craigslist as well. They are there I promise you. The key is not to be too impaitient to get a fish all at once.

Getting a good tank, heater and filter is one of the most important parts of fishkeeping. If you get something too small or inadequate you'll end up struggling to keep things stable and simple to look after, and this can make the fish suffer which is the last thing you want!

Hey I will agree that looks a very pretty tank but how many litres or gallons is it? On here most recommend 3 -5 gallons being minimum to house a betta (there will always be disagreeances whether 3 or 5) if you can get a 5g this will be much much better. The betta will need a heater as they are tropical though depending on your area may not need on all year round (I live in pretty cool area so heaters always on). Filters are also recommended and to fully cycle as it is easier on the fish and easier on you as you won't have to do as many water changes as the filter will help keep the ammonia and waste down.

Right looking on google this is a half gallon tank and really is unsuitable. Before you ask why are they selling? Because people buy because the tanks look nice and if being sold must be ok for the fish, unfortunately the manufacturers don't care on correctness but sales which is truly sad for the poor bettas. A larger gallon tank will ensure a better healthier long lived life. The tank also from what can see does not come with heater or filter.

I would try Ebay you can type in tank and select fish on the left when results come up, then you can specify the results to within more local area (pick location button and type in area code and within however many miles willing to travel) Ive picked up good bargains here and for less than your tank ;)

Also try craigs list as mentioned above, your local fish store (LFS) also will have sales from now and then and some do good cheap setups anyways.

Shopping List:
Gravel / Sand
Small heater 25w (can get good mini versions)
Small Filter (hang on back, mini elite, etc)
3-5g Tank
Silk or live plants (they are inquisitive)
Perhaps small place to call home

Ensure the tank has a lid as these are prone jumpers, they feed off betta pellets as main staple and bloodworm as treats, peas help clear them out. Unsure how much know or researched here is something typed up that may or may not help (it is how I and some members on here would say basic setup but there will always be differing opinions, I do hope it helps :))

Hope that helps and not overloaded too badly just want best for your betta ;)

ive seen those, they are soooo small.you can hold it in one hand, i wouldnt even say its one gallon

Do not Do not Do not get one of those!!!!
1. No it does NOT have a heater.
2. You think it will be easier to get a smaller tank because it will cost less. NO! your betta will get so many diseases and you will spent so much money on trying to get medication and quick fixes.
3.Bettas like to explore, which they can not do in that small of a tank!
4. Trust me, if you want to have a beautiful betta with vibrant colors and is alert and happy, get at least a 5 gallon with a heater and filter.

i agree with everyone....or make yourself one...it'll take like 24 dollars max....but definitely not better than buying a tank for a couple of dollars...but it is definitely an option

you could buy a 2.5 gallon tank with a lid for like 13 bucks,
and a filter for about 10, also a heater for about 12. which isnt that bad,
and a much better set up!
still small enough for your desk, etc, and a ton better than the cubes and bowls they sell
also 5 and 10 gallon tanks without a lid are like 15 bucks too.

5 gallon tanks are really cheap, my fish store sells them for about $10... they are so cheap I don't know why you'd buy a kit anyway.

My lfs sells plastic 3 G tanks for about £5.00. And all i has to add was some fake plants which i had already (you get them for around £1.00 a pack of two or something in wilko) some 99p sand i got from lfs. A little hinding spot. and some deco like sells or marbles etc... works out cheap and easy, also happy for the fish

for 15 dollars all you will get is a sick betta, just check out your LFS and see what they have.
