The Horror Betta's Life!

I believe that all animals either big or small, Rare or Common should have a equal qualty and happy life!Because they don't sell as fast or because ya can only keep one is not a excuse to crush them into tiny pots!
They deserve just as much as any other animal!
Also to add.
The employe's are just as bad as the owner!
One of the Emplye's made the comment of "Atleast there good for fighting if nothing else"I assume it was a non-funny joke with a tacky sense of humor!all of them are just as bad.

It's not really that I dont care about fish, I do. However I'm saying that stating that a guy deserves to lose his livelyhood over 25 bettas is upsurd. And as to the person who said that its the employees fault for not speaking up, congrats on never having a job with a supervisor. Good luck telling your boss that you don't agree with there ethics/business practices.

regardless of his lively hood it is his own fault! People have to apply for a license, and if he's not maintaining his shop to those standards that I don't see how he deserves to keep his license! If I sold alcohol to an under 18 I would lose the restaurant license and it's exactly the same principle.

I have had the same job for 16 years now, I am a supervisor and I have a supervisor - the owner. And yes, I have spoken up about business practices many many times, and all have been met with fair feedback and consideration. That's called working together for the betterment of the company.

Obviously this shop owner was in the wrong or the powers that be would not have closed him down. Rules and standards in keeping live animals are made for a reason. Had he just followed those rules, he'd still be open right now and those employees would have their jobs.

here here, i'm in total agreement. He knew the rules and HE chose to break them. They may have only been a few fish but they are still living creatures who suffer, its still a life. Plus this dude was miss treating other animals too

Exactly.
I hate when people are like that about fish.
They just think they're nothing special.
Sorry, but my Bettas are just as important as my horse!! :D
Well, that's how I feel; I love 'em all the same!
But yeah, hopefully they'll learn the correct way to care for Bettas...& maybe more people will buy them; so they'll get more business!

I'm not gonna argue with a child like you.
It's Animal abuse plain and simple especialy when more of his animals were suffering.

Also as a new member you have already made a impression of urself on this section!
ppl don't take kindly to animal cruelty

Why the hell should he be able to live from the money from suffering animals!
So somone sticks you in a glass box that u can't move in and charges ppl to look at you?
Wouldn't like that would ya!

Sorry everyone if anyone disagree's and thinks the shop should of stayed open, I don't want anyone on here to be offended cause I know and trust alot of ppl on betta forum here and I would of thought a happy ending story like this would of shown ppl that one person standing up can make a diffrence!

I hope I haven't offended anyone on the betta section cause I care about everyones views but pure ignorance like this person isn't needed or wanted

Bettas are alive and until proven otherwise have feelings and suffer like people so they deserve equal treatment of every fish!

Thing is, he would probably sell more bettas, thus make more money off of them, if he took care of them and had them displayed so customers could see them and their beauty!!

He broke the law and he was punished, it's that simple. Regardless of whether you think it was worth it over 25 fish is not the point. The law is the law. You might be pissed off because you were only doing ten miles over the speed limit and you got pulled over, but who cares? You knew you were breaking the law. And it's not as though he's been permanantly shut down. The store is closed while he gets his act together and then he can reopen and keep his shop providing he adheres to the rules that have been laid down for him. That's no different from any other petshop, store, or restaurant.

Dear Friends.

I know stealing is wrong but I had to take one of the cups are proof!

Pics:

I can't really help but notice the hypocrisy here, you say that his shop should be shut down because he does not follow the law, yet you shoplift from him?

Oh grow up you silly little idiot!
It wasn't shoplifting it's proof of the conditions of the Bettas!
Proof that was handed to the inspector this morning!

Anyone would think you owned the shop you seem all for Animal Cruelty!

Leedsboi, you bought the fish in that cup, did they give you the cup? If not, it was technically stealing, you took their property. However, because of it's being the proof against him, and the fact that he couldn't use it even if it were returned, i'm not really sure what the appropriate response is...

Two wrongs shouldn't make a right, but sometimes they do.

The Betta I bought was from the cup yes, There not supposed to give the cups away but he just shoved it in a bag with the betta in so it's down to him. I was informed to return to cup when I got my fish home.
But there wasn't time for that as the inspector was already alerted.

The cup was also handed over to the inspector and compared to the ones in store and was proved to be the same type he was using to keep Bettas in.
