OKay, you all are probably fed up with hearing about this 45 gallon tall, but I believe this will be the last thread about it.

My mum and I were betta-shopping yesterday when we saw the blood parrots. My mom fell in absolute love with them, and I have an empty 45 gallon tall, so I thought, "Hmmmm"
So....can blood parrots or a blood parrot be kept in a 45 gallon tall?

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

from what i know you can keep 1 or 2 in a 45g tall maybe 3 but i wouldn't get anymore lovely looking fish tho

We will never be fed up of you and your tanks Lyra :)

Blood Parrots are not really my cup of tea... for quite a few reasons but that aside they are kind of hard to predict because of how widely kept they are. I often think that a lot of Blood Parrot keepers are "lucky" in a similar way to people that keep goldfish in small tanks for a long time are "lucky".

Blood Parrots are a hybrid of American cichlids, its often disputed as to which but personally I think its a cross of Midas and Severum with some kind of balloon gene, along with the smiling mouth deformity, but I would be happy to be proved wrong. This is why I say the successful keepers are often "lucky" as the Midas are not something you would want to keep in a community... like a lot of Parrots are kept. Which is why I also said its hard to predict how to keep them. You may be ok with as many as 3 with some robust schooling fish or something like Swordtails. But at the same time you can get ones that just need to be kept in solitary confinement...

I hate to keep projecting my negativity on these fish but... for me its not what I would keep...
