Fish Connoisseur
HA!
I thought I didn't know anything about these fish, but I went to my fav lps today to get Whiskers his rabies shot. I browsed the fishes after we were done with the shots. First I stopped by the Synos (trying to figure out what my mystery Synos are still.) Next I went to the African Cichlid section. I went where I had seen the compressiceps, cause they had some nice ones a while back. But also I saw some black and red striped fish on the net that were from Tanganyika, so I'm checking for some other species for the Moba and Bismark tanks.
(I am at this moment sorry that I got the clown loaches. They are just going to take up way too much tank, and I still have my doubts about their appropriateness in a Tanganyikan Rift tank
)
Anyway. I was totally shocked. This is a nice lps. Been the major lps in my town for two generations. They are good and care about folks and pets.
So one of the helpers went to get one of the African knowledge guys.
I"m looking, and I see some Malawi and other stuff that I know aren't Tanganikan. For instance a black calvus next to a compressicep. I said, "Well he doesn't belong to Tanganyika." The guy says, " Oh yeah! All these are Tanganyikans." I just looked a little more. And there are some saulosi. I said, "Oh! Saulosi! I know they are not Tanganikan!" He's like, "Oh! No! Who put these all here?" Suddenly I have no more clerk, because he has scooted not to return.
So, African Forum people, thanks for taking time with my ignorant questions and other drivel as I try to be part of the mix that is African. The little conversations and interactions make a difference, or I might have come home with a black calvus.
