Keep in mind that there are Freshwater and saltwater alligator gar and some can rip your hand off. Some freshwater ones even have a head that looks like a gator.
I thought they were only freshwater, but had a toleration for low salt levels and can live in brackish water and saltwater very briefly but not their indigenous habitat. Never read or heard of a saltwater specific alligator Gar. o_O

Who needs the Loch Ness Monster when you have fish eh?
On a slightly more serious note I would like a few tanks big enough for some plecos. One of the LFS near me is a pleco specialist and until I found them I thought they were quite boring fish and now I would love to have some tanks that could fit them in. They have a stunning L25 and some beautiful zebra plecos in at the moment. This, of course, is along with a multiple tiered stand of Bettas and a Betta sorority tank.

Here’s a pic of freshwater gar caught in Lake Livingston, TX. Yikes!

I've had all these fishes (but one) but if I had a fish room again, I would get them again.

Acarichthys heckelii
Rhadinocentrus ornatus, Iriatherina werneri, Pseudomugil signifier (Townsville and Harvey Creek varieties), P. cyanodorsalis and P. gertrudae, and most other rainbowfish.
Galaxias and Galaxiella species.
Lepidogalaxias salamandroides.
Some of the pygmy perch from down south. One is from the Gardner River and the females were black with emerald green spots on the scales.
Some of the dwarf Botias.
Peckoltia species.
Splashing tetras.
Corydoras barbatus.
Apistogramma cacatuoides.
Pelicachromis subocellatus (Moanda) and P. taeniatus
Cyprichromis leptosoma and Paracyprichromis nigripinnis
Lamprichthys tanganicanus- this is one of the few fish I have not kept because they weren't allowed into the country. However, they are now allowed in and I wouldn't mind trying them.

Marine fish would include
Fire Gobies (Nemateleotris decora, magnifica, helfrichi)
Anthias dispar and tuka
Clownfish (Amphiprion sp)
Blennies
Dumpling Squid.

My LFS has just posted some photos of some beautiful Channa Bipuli, I would quite like one of them now. I'm going to need an actual aquarium to have all these fish I want.

Any pics?

This is the picture they've just posted. They've got some other Channas in on the same delivery so I can't wait to see the rest of the delivery.

buy some fingerlings from your department of fisheries.
Yeah. I think I could probably get the permit to keep them (I have a pond stocked with game fish, so I'm familiar with the process), and I could possibly find a source from a hatchery. The big problem is what I'd need to keep them: A 250g or bigger tank, a chiller, and some MASSIVE filtration. Maybe after I win the lottery. ha ha ha
