That Betta Seller On Ebay

have you ever bred bettas? what do you do to the males at 2 months? you seperate them into jars. from the 2 month point on until they are sold they are in jars. they will be acustom to there surroundings and will not feel cramped when they go to those cups. maby if they are in there long term or something but not just for 5 days or so.
link doesnt work.
Well then just go to ebay (uk version) and look up betta, they have about 20 listings

OK jars, but not tumblers or shot glasses. Anyway, I'm done, I don't see why you and me need to argue here - you just picked my post to jump on - my bad.

if the name is mtts then they are just in those cups so they flare and he can take the picts. if not jus ignore me.

Yes that's the one. It might help their sales if they EXPLAIN just why the bettas are in such small cups and that when they bid/win the fish that they shouldn't actually be kept that way. Anyway, this time I really am done cos I'm sick and it's late and I need my bed wahoooo night!

hmm... this guy's been accused of buying LFS bettas and reselling them, but the butterfly in blue_betta's thread doesn't look like an LFS betta to me. nice clean color and lines, no red wash... the picture's crap, and you can't tell if it's a super delta or a halfmoon, but the fish looks plenty healthy. Cups don't bug me, the fish can move around, and like afishdude said, it's not like they spend their entire lives there.

When you guys said tiny cups, and shot glasses, i expected to see something really awful. aside from poor picture quality, I don't see anything that wrong.

Just as a final note, I don't think people who know nothing about fish are going to look around on the internet and pay at least twice what they would pay for a betta from an LFS.

[edit] also, in the last 12 months he's had 308 positive feedback ratings, one neutral, and no negative, so clearly the fish are arriving in good shape. In fact, they aren't even sent in the cups, they're sent in bags.

why did you bring this up again? theres been like 20 of these topics in the last 2 weeks. if you dont like them then just keep it to yourselfs, its the sellers choice if he wants to keep them in that or not. not yours. im not trying to flame or be meen i just hate it when people dont mind there own buisness and whine about bettas bieng in small cups for pictures.

That's like saying don't ask about heating again, or filtration again, or what tail is this again or, or, or... it's a bettas life - it's a forum about bettas... if you don't like this topic, then don't read it and mind your own business and keep your own opinion to yourself. And this is UK seller, it's VERY rare to see bettas sold like this in the UK - you may well be used to seeing it all over in the states, but those pics are the 1st time I personally have ever seen bettas in cups and I was horrified. This was my reaction.

Not flaming or being mean of course ;)

I aggree wiht both of you, although even if a fish did live in a cup fr 2 years i cant of been very pleasant for it can it?

Cheers, Joemuz

I have spoken to this seller before, he is up the road to me and he seems like a reasonable chap and I would buy his fish.

I'm not doubting the fish are fine condition.

I just wish he would put a little more information about bettas on his auctions (one of which being how bettas should be housed, i.e. not like in the photograph). It wouldn't hurt them to do this and may get them more sales.

His fish are lovely, many of them tempting. I just don't particularly want to spend THAT much considering he doesn't even put 4 fish in for the £6.50 postage, you have to pay £2.50 more per fish.

I realise breeding and importing bettas is a trade, but this just screams 100% £££ and absolutely no regard for the fish WHATSOEVER.

His prices are silly, I offered him £5 for a fish and I would have collected, he declined saying the cost him £20 each. His loss I guess if he does not sell them all. However, his fish are the nicest I have seen on sale in a while.

99.9999999% of all bettas sold in the UK are Imported. he could have got them from a wholesaler. the crown tail still look like the ones you get for £3.50 at any LFS, but i would bet the HM are more like SD sold to him as HM.
