Salt water tanks are really hard to keep up and I hear cost tons of money. And Oscars are cool, How many would someone recomend for a 55gallon?

A single oscar would need the 55gallon all to himself. I'd get a few colombian rams and a shoal of cories and some barbs.

I wouldnt put an Oscar in anything less than 75 gallons considering they get 14 inches and the width of a standard 55 is 12 inches. TFF also says minimum tank size of 75 gallons. http/www.fishforums.net/Oscars-t47035.html
That said, if your gonna get a 55 might as well get a 75 or even better a 120 You know you wanna...

Yes parrots and firemouths are both options for a 55 gallon. Im not sure about the two together but you could always try and see if it will work. I have parrots and they are not at all aggressive or territorial, but since they are a hybrid I have heard some bad horror stories about aggressive parrots. If I had a spare 55 gallon I would breed jack dempseys....
