right my current tank has being going a while i have these in there....

1x Vieja Hartwegi ( 5" )
2x blood parrot ( 5" )
^Pair^

2x convict/blue eye/sajica hybrids (2"+3")

and a 5" hujet gar ( rocket gar )

the tank is about 4' long X 2' high X 2" wide

and theres a really nice 3" or 4" texas cichlid ive seen at an lfs,
will it get battered to death in my tank ? or will it be able to agress back ? i think its a male.

p.s the vieja hartwegi is a female.

quick responce would be apreciated äc

I dont think you've got the room to be honest. Any pics of your vieja? How long have you had it? I had a vieja intermedium up until the summer, lovely fish, had him 6 months and he got to 7", so grew pretty quickly (and had that again to grow lol) :)

You might get away with a texas in a bigger tank, but as they're pretty aggressive, I'd not personally risk it in a 4ft. Maybe in a 6ft to give them a bit more space, but even then it might be a bit touch and go. Big fish, big personalities, big tempers!

Might be worth a tank upgrade though - if your vieja has similar needs to my old intermedium, they really need a long tank - 6ft minimum - as they like to swiiiiiim!

yeah i lsee if i can get a pic of the V. hartwegi up, very very colourful!
they are very unphotogenic, a google search will reveal about 2 iamges of proper adults and only 1 of the juveniles...
il sort out a pic, do you have any of the old intermedium you had ?
regards kubora

Yep - here he is (well, was, before he moved on in the summer):
