Tetratec Fine Filter

I have recently bought a Tetratec EX700 external and the fine-filter at the last stage is doing a very good job of making some very clear water. I cleaned it [the one filter pad] the other week and it lost it's shape and was difficult to reseat. While it does a good job I'm thinking filter wool would be almost as good but much cheaper and less prone to losing it's shape. Anyone got comments/tips about this 'fine' filter?

Do you mean the white pad?

Just use the big pond sheets of th white wool pads and cut it to size, much cheaper. It needs replacing regularly anyways.

The wool isn't as good, but the price makes it better.
