Tbh it would be perfect for the tank, 10x is nice filtration. Not over and not under, its perfect :good:

I've got one currently running on my 105L while it seeds before upgrading to a 55G.
It seems fine like this (bearing in mind it's running alongside the existing internal filter), so shouldn't be a problem on yours, just turn the outlet tap down a bit. The only problem I've had is sand being pushed away from the front of the tank from the water flow, plus my angel isn't too happy about the increased flow! (although he's found a dead spot in the corner and stays there a lot of the time now)

The question is, why do you want such an overpowered filter? Are you planning to upgrade at some point, or have you found a cheap deal?

Yeah, the EX1200 will be fine, in my opinion, i would use them on 100litres - 250litre tanks (Manufactures like to over estimate this)

Besides, if you find the flow is too fast, you can slow it down.

thats perfect for me then. it will be my first ex filter. i may upgrade in the future but currently i have 2 internals on my tank and i want to get rid of them to make more room. plus the horrible juwel thing is crap! how would i remove that with the fish still in there?

I drained about 40/50% of the water, got a spatchelar and went to town on the silicone :D, choppin, slicing, pushising. Once a few are off its easy to pull off.

oh that cool. it will just open the tank out more. i have a question as i am new to the external filter scene. what actually goes in the water to suck the 'crap' up? when do you clean the media, i take it yyou can leave it a bit longer than an internal?

Two little pipes go in the water, either end of the tank is best imo. One for sucking out, one for putting in. I clean my media once the flow starts to weaken from the output. Which is usually 6 months+

Yeah theres an intake strainer which syphone water into the filter from the tank. Then it travels through the selected media. THen the impeler pumps it through an output tube back into the tank.

And yes, media only needs to be cleaned about every 6 months.

I find that my EX1200 needed doing about every 4 but my tank was overstocked. Let us know how you get on!

yes, ihave seen one for £40 but i dont know if the guy will post it. i want an external so badly, if you know anyone that has a good one going cheap, let me know!!!
