Tetras Unavailible?

FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO BUY REGULAR TETRAS OR CARDINAL TETRAS. i WAS TOLD BY A SHOP EMPLOYEE THAT SHOPS CANNOT GET THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE EITHER NOT AVAILIBLE FROM THEIR SUPPLIERS OR ARE DOA UPON ARRIVAL. IS THERE SOMETHING GOING ON HERE? ANYBODY HAVE INFO ON THIS?

All of my local Lfs's have loads of tetras, never seen them without any.
It's odd you've been told they can't get any

Regular tetras? I take it you mean neon tetras. No, they're everywhere, try pets at home if you can't get them from a local shop.

i have 4 lfs and they all have neon tetras ans 2 of the shops have cardinal tetras so no problems here

haha they'll get some in next week, and tell you they're really rare now and they're 4 quid per neon.

It happens... sometimes the suppliers are out of stock, its on a first come first served basis, so when fish are ordered, you have to write substitute species on the order too so if they arent in stock, they can be changed last minute and you dont know until they arrive that you arent getting what you initially wanted. Royal PITA! I havent been able to get hold of otos since last october lol. Had some coming in tomorrow but thanks to stupid laws and regulations in south america we now arent getting them until mid feb...

And this is the worst time of the year for transporting fish, the poly boxes keep fish cool enough in the summer, but in the winter.. they only stay warm for so long! All it takes is heavy traffic, delays for the plane or the courier.. or they get loft on the tarmac when being put onto the plane for too long, or opened and checked by DEFRA coming into the country lets all the heat out the box! (random checks i think and the stick defra tape over the box if its been checked).

There are so many variables when ordering the fish and its really difficult work that is soooo NOT appreciated by customers and people wanting to buy the fish...
