I was just wondering how do you use them? How I understand it is i put 5ml of tank water in the test tube and add one drop at a time untill it changes colour

problem is I put one drop in and it changes to pink does this mean I have a gh of one?

Thanks in advance

james

I have the API testers so I googled the tetra ones.

The instructions I found say that the colour for GH changes from red to green at the end point, and KH changes from blue to yellow.
You say the first drop turned the water pink, ie pale red. Keep on adding drops one at a time, shaking after each drop, until the colour changes to green.
With KH, the first drop should turn the water pale blue; keep adding 1 drop at a time till it turns yellow.

If you find the colour in the tube is very pale, stand the tube on something white, remove the lid and look down into the tube. Because you are looking through a greater depth of water than from the side, the colour looks more intense.

Ahh so I am doing it wrong then thank you for the help much appreciated.

Thanks again

james
