Tech Corner

A few issues with the OLED.. It still hasn't even made it past the picking stage of the delivery status, 7 days after ordering. I decided to contact the company, and I'm waiting for a reply now :) . I just hope it's a simple error that can be fixed.

Meanwhile, my current monitor is driving me up the wall! It took 37 minutes the other day for all the lines to disappear, and all I needed the PC for was a simple file transfer.. I need that OLED asap

Did you order it directly from the manufacturer or through an outlet such as Amazon?

If within range of a TV plug the HDMI cable into an empty HDMI port on the TV.

It's a UK-based tech outlet store about 50 miles south of me. I've used them before, and they've been great. I'm hoping it's just a slip-up on their end. I did expect some form of delay since we are approaching BF, but I didn't think it would be this long. I'm still waiting for a reply. I do have a TV in the same room, but removing all the cables and cable ties on my desk isn't worth the hassle :)

Assuming that you used a bank/debit/paypal account for payment check your on-line banking to see if there has been a finalized charge to your account. If there is still a pending charge it is likely just a delay in shipping. If the payment is finalized I'd use that as leverage to get a response. In my personal experience reputable outfits will not finalize a payment until the item is shipped.

To be honest, if it is an actual brick and mortar store, I would have just driven and picked it up. :dunno:

I used Klarna as payment and did the same for previous orders from the same place. I will wait a bit longer for a response before I call them.
They used to have a store but they turned it into a warehouse since online orders became the norm for them. You can still pick up in person but I won’t be able to since I’m working almost every day for the next few weeks and I don’t have a license or car :)

By 'warehouse' I take it as meaning that they became a clearing house that is a distributor for many manufacturers. Now let's think about if their source for the monitor is in China. When I buy from New Egg or Amazon I tend to look at where it is shipped from but sometimes I forget to do so. If shipped from China it can easily take a couple of weeks to arrive. In some cases the item tracking won't even show as shipped until it passes customs for the country of destination due to it having to be received by the delivery outfit that is actually in the country of delivery.

To help verify the above possibility go back to the sales page for the monitor and look for a statement as to from where the monitor was initially shipped.

I have one of those hardware drive duplicators- which I absolutely love-
I am presuming with an m2 to stata adapter I can dupe those as well? anyone done it?
adapters are cheap ~10

Latest windows version are placing the backup/system partitions tight to the primary drive space and Win itself wont move it. I have been buying easus to move and then open up the size (duplicator maintains original size)
question: anything free to do this?

I need to do some maintenance on my 17' dell lappy. not designed as a travel machine!!for the interim:
Found a lenovo T460(no S) for ~$100 ebay. Interesting architectural differences for the techy guys. Last of the DDR3 machines so 16G DDR3 unobtainium ( insufficient R&D on my part)
two batteries? weird. No speaker output (jacks ok)but not defective speakers like everyone else on youtube-LOL

I've tried a few other ways of finding out about my order today. I ended up joining the Discord and forum of the company and asked around there. I talked to a couple of people who had or were having similar issues. It seems the months of Nov and Dec are always hectic for this company.. I still havent had any personal communication from them, but their site now includes this info box when ordering.

I haven't called yet as I found they don't answer the phone on weekends when I have free time. I did make a web ticket on the 26th (8 days after the order), which still hasn't had a response. To rub salt in the wounds, a tech store based in Bolton, not far from me, has just gotten the same monitor in stock.. I've been patient so far and will continue to be for a little longer, but I'm looking into refund options now as more time passes.

If able there is the option of canceling the order and just getting the monitor locally.

I'm only 25 minutes in, but this is a good watch :)

@28:47 a dig towards our hobby

Good news, finally. I had a response to my web ticket today that I sent on the 28th nov! Turns out my order was picked on the 19th (day after order placed) and was misplaced.. until it was found this morning by the warehouse manager. It has now been shipped to the courier and will hopefully be with me early next week. I'm still a bit annoyed as they closed their phone lines yesterday, so there was no way to contact them, even to get a refund.. as my patience had worn thin. I suppose the one upside is that I got it at a deal price and not the current listing price of £650..

Surprisingly, the monitor arrived this evening. Did a few quick checks, no damages or issues. I decided to stick it on my VESA mount rather than keeping it on the existing stand. It's honestly like having a new set of eyes. The colours are amazing, and the 280Hz refresh rate is incredible. I do see a big difference from 144 to 280Hz. My ricefish now have something new to stare at

The next thing I need is speaker raisers. I'll make them myself from reclaimed wood.
